مشاغل کاذب و یا خلاف هستند و این دختر تنها
کسی بوده که یک شغل آبرومند با درآمد شرافتمندانه دارد.

نمادها و نشانه‌ها در فیلم‌هایی قابل باور می‌شوند و مخاطب را به پیدا کردن
رمز و راز نهفته در خود وامی‌دارند که فیلم‌ساز ارزش عمیق ایجاز و ابهام را بفهمد و
به دنبال فریاد زدن تمام مضامین اثرش نباشد.
به همین دلیل است که اساسا سمبل و نماد، در آثاری با رویکرد
مینی‌مالیستی یا شاعرانه ارج و قرب پیدا می‌کنند نه فیلم‌هایی که از هر دری سخن می‌گویند.

پس صرف استفاده از چند نماد و نشانه به هیچ وجه موجب اعتلای
سینمایی یک فیلم نمی‌شود و چه بسا
اگر به درستی در تار و پود اثر جای خود
را پیدا نکند، به پیکره‌ی
آن ضربه بزند و شخصیت‌ها را به سمت و سویی بکشاند که بسیار از
آن فاصله دارند و در جایی دیگر
سیر می‌کنند. به همین دلیل است که دیالوگ‌های «برادران لیلا» چنین شعاری
جلوه می‌کنند؛ چرا که متعلق به این شخصیت‌ها با این
خصوصیات ویژه نیستند و انگار به خواست
نویسنده و فیلم‌ساز از جایی خارج از جهان اثر بر زبان آن‌ها
جاری شده‌اند. نگاه جزئی‌نگر فیلمساز و تلاش او برای خلق سندی سینمایی از این دوران عجیب و
ملتهب تمام آن چیزی است که در نگاهی کلی به فیلم و اتفاقات آن نصیب تماشاگر می‌شود.
رویکردی که اگر قرار باشد آن
را تنها مقیاس قضاوت درباره فیلم بدانیم، «برادران لیلا» را در محدوده یک واقعه
نگاری صرف بر اساس اخبار این چند سال قرار می‌دهد.

برادران لیلا جامعه‌ای مردسالار را به تصویر می‌کشد که
در آن زنان حکمِ اشیاء را
دارند و خدمتکار هستند. اما سوال اینجاست
که آیا در جامعه کنونی ایران چنین وضعیتی حاکم است؟ بنده به عنوان یک نقادِ فیلم و یک انسانِ اجتماعی چنین تصوری
از جامعه ایران ندارم. این وضعیت را منکر نمیشوم، هست اما
نسبت به سال‌های قبل شدیدا کم شده و درون مایه‌ی فیلم برادران لیلا را تا حدودی سیاه‌نماییِ جشنواره‌ای
می‌دانم.
از دست بی خردی و تفکرات پوسیده پدر خانواده از ته دل حرص
خوردم . من که در طی فیلم به مرگ
همچین پدری راضی شده بودم با سیلی
خوردن پدر شوکه شدم . ای کاش لیلا
از سر خشم بخاطر حقی که داشت لااقل یقه پدر و
میگرفت و نمیدونم یه حرکتی میکرد
که نشون میداد در اوج استیصال و درماندگی باز حرمت
حتی اون پدر احمق رو داره . ضعف
بزرگ فیلم که میترسم در فیلم
های بعدی هم تکرار بشه فقط همینه .

روستایی که خود نویسنده فیلمنامه است زحمت زیادی می‌کشد تا نشان دهد چگونه فساد را
در هر سطح از زندگی می‌توان یافت و از کارخانه‌داران مکار در سطوح بالا تا افرادی که در پایین‌ترین سطح جامعه
جای دارند، مانند پرویز که کارش تمیز
کردن توالت است، سر دیگران کلاه می‌گذارند.
در فیلم «برادران لیلا» بازیگرانی چون ترانه علیدوستی، نوید محمدزاده،
سعید پورصمیمی، پیمان معادی، فرهاد اصلانی، محمد علیمحمدی، نیره فراهانی و مهدی حسینی‌نیا، ایفای نقش کرده اند.
